Princess Party

A couple of weeks ago our ward Relief Society hosted a Princess Party for all of the women/girls in the ward.  They had dinner and took pictures of everyone.  They also showed a little slideshow, it was actually a book that we own called "Daughter of a King".  Grandma Harrison gave it to Katie for her birthday because the main girls name is Katie.  Then they had some speakers, we missed most of it though because with potty training Sophie skipped her nap and had a full blown meltdown.  I don't know how she would have been even with a nap because listening to a few women talk doesn't sound like a party a 2 year old would enjoy :)
Here are the pictures they took.  My visiting teaching companion is a professional photographer and took everybody's picture and an unknown donor gave money to have them all printed for everyone.
I tried to pick a more "princessy" dress for Sophie but this is the one she wanted.  Generally the 2 year old gets whatever she wants. Sophie had her picture taken first of our family and then by the time we took the group picture  she wanted none of it.  This is the better of the pictures (the other one she was running away and looking really grumpy.)
One of the YW leaders offered her sister's high school dresses for the girls to borrow and then the day of the activity they went to her house to do their hair.  So that is where Julia's dress came from.

A House is not a Home

Whenever we want to go see the progress on the new house we ask if "anybody wants to go to the house." Even Sophie has figured out the difference between that house and our home that we currently live in. She was talking about one of Katie's friends and said, "She is going to come to our house....NO, not our house....our home!" In just a couple months it will be our home as well as our house :)
Part of the driveway is finished so Josh is able to get in pretty smoothly.
The front is completely bricked.
Cement is poured on the patio and they're working on the brick pillars.
There are stacks of sheet rock spread around the house. This is in the living room.

Still Going

This is getting set up for putting in this part of the driveway. They like to wait to do the driveway until they are done with the brick because the mortar can stain the cement. But they also want to give Josh some help getting into the house.

Progress on the House

I know it's been awhile but I thought people might like to see the progress on our new house.
There are three empty lots behind our house and these lots have been here for several years so it might be awhile before we have neighbors on that side of our house. We're thinking we won't put a fence on the back for awhile and our kids will have quite an area to play in :)



I took pictures of all the kids in their future rooms. (Katie and Sophie will share they just weren't there on the same day.)

Big garage, it could actually fit four cars if we wanted but one would be behind another. We're thinking lots of storage! Sophie loves the house and calls it "going to the dirt."

Fall Soccer 2010

Soccer season ended a couple weeks ago, just in time for the weather to turn cooler. We had great weather for the girls games. It never rained and it was fairly warm even for the early 9 o'clock games. Emma played on the Green Geckos and Katie's team was named the Pink Princesses. It was hilarious to find out each week that almost all of the teams Katie's age were the princesses! Both girls did well and more importantly had a lot of fun. Katie's team is all first time players so you never know if you have good players on your team or not. Two of the girls were pretty tall and one ended up being very fast and very good. So I think after the first game not scoring at all and losing they won the rest of their games. Emma's team struggled at first as well, losing the first game 14-1. We found out later that two girls who were very good didn't make it to the first two games. So with those girls joining and the rest of the team getting better the rest of the season went much better. Emma has learned that she loves defense....and she's pretty good at it as well. Here are a few shots from Katie's game, everytime I took a picture she ended up being behind someone else.

I forgot to take the camera to any of Emma's games. I'll have to remember to do that when they start again in the spring.

Finally....there she is. Katie scored one goal! I missed it, because Emma had a game at the same time so I was with her. The next week I was at Katie's game and Josh wasn't there because he went to General Conference with Julia and his parents. Katie actually had the ball (one of the few times), she was going towards the goal with nobody really near her, I was so excited hoping to see her score a goal and then she ran right out of her shoe! She immediately stopped and look at me like, What happened! I tried to get her to keep going but I knew she wouldn't :0 She just had the funniest look on her face.

Stomping Leaves

While I was at Julia's dance class with her yesterday evening the rest of the family went to the backyard to rake up leaves. I don't know how much they enjoyed the raking but evidenced by these pictures they sure liked stomping them down in the garbage can.

This picture cut off Emma's head but Sophie looks so cute :)
